Joshua "Coach JJ" Johnson on Leadership, Baseball, and Never Limiting Yourself
Jenny had the opportunity to interview Joshua "JJ" Johnson, Hitting Coach for the Trenton Thunder, during our visit to the ballpark for an inspiring conversation about family, leadership, and personal growth. Coach JJ shared that his father, who played parts of five seasons in Major League Baseball, was his greatest inspiration and the person who introduced him to the game. He reflected on childhood memories of hitting a wiffle ball in the backyard and how those moments helped shape his lifelong passion for baseball.
One of the most memorable parts of the interview came when Coach JJ encouraged young people to never limit themselves. He explained that trying new experiences is the only way to discover what you're capable of and shared that he participated in baseball, basketball, band, and academics while growing up. Coach JJ also admitted that he still gets nervous before every game, saying those butterflies remind him how much he still loves the game. We are grateful to Coach JJ and the entire Trenton Thunder organization for welcoming Jenny and supporting our mission of creating a more inclusive world through storytelling and meaningful conversations.
